The hoodoos

Finally made it to the hoodoos. Problem was, I didn't realize that you couldn't get down to the hoodoos from the trail. So I sailed right past them, and kept going. And going. And going. Until I realized that I had been running for 20 minutes past the hoodoos.

So I turned around, went back to the lookout, and looked at them for awhile. Then I hobbled the 5 K back to the centre, tired and hypoglycemic.

But happy. No matter how tired, hungry, dishevelled I might find myself, if I am in the mountains on a trail, I am happy.

  1. Ain't life grand? I remember hiking to those hoodood with Chris Lukovits, it seems like yesterday yet it was 23 years ago!!! Yes, I really am that same girl still. I like reading about the science of time. There really is no such thing. Now that is refreshing.

  2. The hoodoos are interesting. We actually have somethat look similar near here. Just out by the composite.

Glad you're enjoying the mountains. You always were a mountain girl.

  3. There is nothing like the air in Banff. It just has a much greater sense of anticipation than any other mountain air. I think it is a necessary retreat every year just to get a girl on track. I always think of those tourists that would arrive at the Banff
Springs at the turn of the century with a $50,000 credit note. Even I could camp out for quite a time on that credit note a century later!
